🌺 From the first Wednesday in May to the last in September 2025, we open the doors of the Walled Garden, Luton and welcome visitors to our unique Capability Brown designed walled garden and its unique service buildings.
🌹 WHAT TO EXPECT
Entrance includes a fascinating tour of the walled garden and visitors are encouraged to break their visit with a picnic or a visit to the Woodyard Café. The garden is best enjoyed at a snail’s pace, entrance is for all day! Notice boards and displays are updated throughout the season allowing fascinating insight into the garden’s rich history.
♿️ ACCESSIBILITY
Every effort has been made to make the garden accessible to as many visitors as possible. With that in mind we have recently finished resurfacing the area around the sundial making it far easier for wheeled access. However, due to the age and rich history of the garden there are some areas that are not accessible by wheelchair. Please inform members of the Walled Garden Project at the entrance and every effort will be made to provide an alternative route, provide commentary on the area, or help with pushing if there are volunteers available. Disabled toilets are available within the conservatory.
🐶 DOGS
Dogs on leads with well-behaved owners are most welcome at the Walled Garden.
🅿️ PARKING
Parking is in an immediately adjacent car park with clearing marked disabled parking bays.
Pre-booking is not required. Please note the Walled Garden is not at the hotel entrance.

Many of the people and groups involved in folk music and dance in the St Albans area get together to perform in the historic setting of St Michael’s village.

This year, around 10 groups will dance in open-air shows, while there is live music in the Six Bells St Albans, the churchyard, near the Puddingstone, and, for the first time, outside Verulamium Museum. We even have the church bells at 7.15, to “ring in” the merriment.

St Michael’s Street, St Albans is closed to traffic from 8 till 10pm, to become the venue for around 32 dance shows, and St Michael’s Lower School yard is the site of the pupils’ Maypole.
Music goes on till 9.30 at the Museum, 10.30 at the churchyard, and in the pubs and by the Puddingstone until closing time.

🎊 Our much-loved annual summer village festival is back—bigger, better, and bursting with community spirit for 2025! We're keeping our fingers crossed that the glorious weather will stick around!
🤩 WHAT TO EXPECT
It's a whole-day village celebration including a traditional fete with stalls, tombola, raffle and games, a parade, sports activities, competitions and live music, along with great food and drinks.
🌞 Classic vehicle parade and procession through village
🌞 Live music from local musician Luke White and singer Tasha Wolfe
🌞 Dance performance by the Studio of Performing Arts
🌞 Kids’ entertainment (including amazing balloon animals!) from Steve Dimmock
🌞 Official opening of the new playground by Blake Stephenson MP
🌞 Races (including the Gallop itself) and tug o’war
🌞 Great Gravenhurst Bake-Off baking competition judged by Jo from Disco-licious
🌞 Classic games and activities for all ages
🌞 Fun dog show (various categories) and other canine entertainment provided by Accolade Hounds
🌞 Craft stalls, tombola and raffle
🌞 BBQ and full bar until late
💃 STAY FOR THE EVENING
And if that’s not enough fun, the entertainment will continue into the evening with more music, food and drink - it’s a great opportunity to relax, socialise and maybe even have a bit of a boogie with other villagers. Bring friends and family too, there'll be plenty to do!
